Laser Surgery
A safe alternative to traditional surgery.
Laser surgery and electrocautery are safe alternatives to traditional surgery. These particular types of surgery methods use a highly focused, handheld laser beam or electrode current to operate.
Unlike traditional surgery, laser and electrocautery surgery vaporizes soft tissue while simultaneously cauterizing it. This reduces the time it takes to perform the procedure and efficiently kills any bacteria in its path.
When available, these surgery methods are often preferable to traditional surgery for these reasons:
- Less pain and bleeding
- Decreased swelling
- Reduced risk of infection
- Increased precision
- Increased speed of procedure/decreased anesthesia time
- Quicker overall recovery
Although laser and electrocautery aren’t right for every surgical procedure, more often than not, it is an available options. Procedures commonly performed with laser surgery include:
- Spays
- Neuters
- Mass removals (including cysts, polyps, and tumors)
